CREWS are tackling a big fire involving pallets and fencing near police HQ in Winsford.

Firefighters were called Mid Cheshire Pallets Limited on Leslie Road at Woodford Park Industrial Estate at around 3pm.

Residents in Winsford advised to keep doors and windows closed as a precaution.

Three fire engines are currently at the scene.

Several roads in the area are closed as emergency crews tackle the blaze.

Northwich Guardian:

A closure is in place on the roundabout into Winsford on the A54 Chester Road and at the roundabout entrance to Oakmere Road next to the police HQ.

Motorists are asked to use Delamere street as a diversion.

The police are also urging people to stay away from the fire.

A police spokesman said: "Can we please ask that members of the public stopping their cars dead in the road at this location to take videos that they refrain in doing so.

"This is putting a lot of pressure on the resources and stopping emergency vehicles from getting to the site. This is an important request. Stay away from the area."

Nearby industrial buildings have been evacuated as a precaution.

Firefighters are also using a hose reel as well as two main jets to help bring the fire under control.

Crews have continued to work on the fire throughout the night by using a hose reel jet to dampen down any distressed hot spots and continue to monitor them.
