A SUPERDRUG store in the South Side of Glasgow has been broken into, leaving behind a “bizarre” scene.

The health and beauty retailer’s branch on Victoria Road was left with a huge street sign through its window.

The incident comes after we reported in January how both Barnardos and Latino Romanian food store - on Victoria Road, just opposite Superdrug - were broken into and robbed on the same day.

One startled eyewitness told the Evening Times of what they saw.

The passer-by, who asked not to be named, told us: “It looked like someone had ripped a street sign out of its foundations and smashed it through the window of the shop.

Glasgow Times:

“Who knows if it was vandalism or mindless thuggery, but it was a bizarre scene to see, especially as it was behind the cordon for the road works.

“This part of Victoria Road has seen several break ins so I really hope all that is not starting up again.”

Police Scotland confirmed a report on the break-in was made at around 3.30am this morning.

A force spokeswoman added: “Enquiries are ongoing.”

The Evening Times has attempted to reach out to Superdrug for comment.
