A PROJECT that helps to combat isolation has received technical support from a big hearted company.

Pinacl-GDA has donated data cable to support Age UK Cheshire's Men in Sheds branch in Winsford to help them connect their new 3D Printer and a host of other equipment.

Men in Sheds offers men over 50 the chance to come together, relax and chat, helping to tackle isolation that may have been caused through bereavement, retirement, redundancy or depression.

Men can learn skills like woodturning and pen making and get involved in community projects, computer sessions and model railways.

The aim of the sheds is to increase the wellbeing of men who are vulnerable to social isolation.

Liam Wynne, managing director of St Asaph-based Pinacl-GDA, said: "We always look to help local community projects where possible, especially causes surrounding mental well-being. When we were approached by an employee at one of our on-site Managed Service sites in Knutsford we thought it was a great idea."

Mark Armstrong, service delivery manager at Pinacl-GDA, added: "When I was approached by a former colleague who I had worked alongside previously for many years asking for help, I arranged to meet and understand what project he was helping with.

"I jumped at the chance to help in providing some infrastructure cable to support Age UK in the loneliness and isolation in men over 50 project. It is such a worthy cause and Pinacl-GDA is always willing to assist in such cases where we can."
