A WELL loved Cultural Quarter bar has been given a revamp inside and out.

Hernando’s Hideaway in Sankey Street has reopened as Hideout after six days’ work after co-owners Steven Seanor and James Glover recruited an army of friends and family to help out.

As well as the new name and signage, Hideout features a backlit LED colour changing bar downstairs as well as a floral wall and newly upholstered seating throughout the venue.

James, a former St Gregory’s RC High School student, said: “We’ve gone for a more modern, cooler look downstairs while trying to retain the Hernando’s ‘Tiki’ feel upstairs where we have taken out a wall that has opened up the whole area massively “It has increased the seating/standing area in what appears from the front of the building to be small venue but is actually far larger than it looks hence the original name Hernando’s Hideaway.”

Steven, a former Great Sankey High School student, added: “Hernando’s Hideaway was a breath of fresh air to the Cultural Quarter when it opened four years ago and since then we have become one of the busiest bars in the area.

“We strongly believe that this is due to the fact that we created a venue with a summer holiday vibe that pretty much everyone can relate to even during the cold dark nights of winter that we’re all used to in the UK.

“However, every now and then it makes sense to switch things up a bit and give the regulars something new and exciting as well as trying to attract new customers at the same time so we decided to change the name but still retain the same atmosphere that we’ve built up.

Warrington Guardian:

“The name Hideout is obviously not a million miles away from Hernando’s Hideaway but is different enough to suggest that the place has changed.

“We have massively changed the look of the place in just six days and although it’s still very much a work in progress we believe that considering the limited time and budget that we were working with we have made massive achievements in such a small space of time.

“It wouldn’t have happened without the help from some very good friends.”

Steven and James are also hoping to host more DJs and musicians as Hideout.

James, a DJ himself, said: “We are looking to host the after party for this year’s Neighbourhood Weekender, host live music and sets from guest DJs such as Josh Butler and big names as well as keeping the bar’s soul, funk and disco ethos.”

Steven added: “Warrington’s nightlife is definitely improving all the time, there are so many new bars and clubs appearing, especially over the past couple of years.

Warrington Guardian:

“For a town that is sandwiched in between two massive cities like Liverpool and Manchester. Warrington is really showing people that they no longer have to travel out of the town to experience a diverse music scene as they may have had to in times gone by.

“Warrington has a lot to offer now and with all the major redevelopments going on in the town we feel this is only going to get better. Warrington is growing as a town all the time and we’re very proud to be a part of it.”

Pizza lovers will also be pleased to know that the venue’s pizza oven has stayed.

Steven said: “We are relaunching pizza this weekend and have just joined Deliveroo which has just launched in Warrington. We make our dough and sauce on site and that’s what makes us stand out from the competition.

“Our main focus now is going to be on marketing the food side of the business so more people in the town realise how much of a difference fresh ingredients can make so watch this space....”
