VOLUNTEERS are continuing to give Winsford Town Park a spring clean.
The next activity session for Friends of Winsford Town Park is from 10.30am to 1pm on Wednesday, May 15.
Friends' chairman John Malam said: "This Wednesday we'll be transplanting Vinca minor (common periwinkle) shrubs from the Dingle Lane embankment to the woodland area.
"The embankment was the last area of Town Park to be landscaped and planted and has quickly become overgrown with weed.
"Vinca is a purple-flowered shade-loving shrub and by transplanting it to a new setting amongst the trees, we'll be giving it a better chance to spread out and flourish. The embankment is likely to be grassed, which will be easier to maintain.
"If time allows and if enough volunteers come along we may also be able to do some general tidying up – litter picking, weeding, sweeping of paths, and continuing to remove fallen branches and dead wood from the woodland area."
The group works with professional garden designer Jo Fawcett, the horticulturalist who designed the park's planting scheme.
Volunteers are invited to meet at the viewing platform near Dingle Lane.
