AHEAD of the Cheshire West and Chester Council election on Thursday, Winsford’s Liberal Democrats give the lowdown on their bid to ‘put the town first’.

We are fielding a formidable team of candidates for the CWAC elections on May 2.

All seven of our candidates live in Winsford, unlike the other parties who a have parachuted in some of their candidates from elsewhere. We believe local based candidates are what Winsford needs.

Our policy pledge for this election is quite simple – putting Winsford first.

We are very well aware that Government funding for local Authorities has been slashed.

But we do not believe that for the past four years Winsford has received its fair share of the available funds.

On the town centre saga, CWAC finally took our advice – suggested four years ago – and bought back the lease of the town centre.

Now they are dragging their feet with more consultations and reviews.
