SHY students who struggled to speak in public were able to perform Shakespeare in front of a large audience - in just one week!

Pea Pod drama school in Winsford has transformed young thespians into confident performers.

The independent drama school in the town centre was founded by two professional actors five years ago.

Amelia Sefton, 27, and Richard Oliver, 44, have appeared in TV and film now run classes for children aged six to 16.

Amelia, from Winsford, said: "We have just completed Macbeth which was a one week half term project.

"The students transformed a bare stage into a thrilling, bloody Macbeth in just five days!

"We were particularly impressed with some new students who were struggling to speak in front of others on their first session and by the following Friday they were performing in front of a large audience, speaking Shakespeare, managing their own staging and props."

Any young people interested in performing arts is welcome to join.

Two more shows will be staged in the coming months and every student will be congratulated for their hard work at a summer awards party.

Amelia added: "We are looking for new students who wish to build confidence, gain stage experience and make new theatre friends in a non judgemental and creative environment."

Amelia, who has been acting and performing since she was seven, has just finished her second film of the year and is about to shoot another film in Delamere Forest.

She plays the lead role in a feature film Kristen Shadows which is expected to be released in regional cinemas later this year or early 2020.

Richard is appearing in a play called Twits, Wits & Bawdy Baskets, a comedy about travelling vagabonds at Winsford Theatre Space on May 4, Davenham Theatre on May 17 and 18 and the Lion Salt Works on June 14.

Amelia added: "We have a combined 40 years experience in the performance industry and teaching. We welcome students with a passion for performing."

Youngsters will have audition opportunities in TV, film, theatre, radio and doing voice overs.

"We want to give children confidence to get on into the real world," added Amelia, who was taught herself by Richard. "Drama is a place where they can come and express themselves. We're like a family, they can be themselves."

Classes are held every Saturday from 10am to 2.30pm and a drop in drama games class is held on Monday from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
