CHILDREN in Wimboldsley Primary School have started a project which celebrates what makes Britain great.

Pupils from the school have been involved in a music video in which they show signs written by the children celebrating the diversity of British culture.

Fiona Chesters, teaching assistant, edited the video and is delighted with the response so far.

Fiona said: “I usually do these videos for the year six leavers when I have a bit more time but for this one I only really had one morning and an afternoon to work on it.

“Last year we did a project about palm oil in partnership with Chester Zoo and we were looking for what we could do this year.

“We found out that some of the children don’t know much about British culture and history. We had one child ask who David Beckham the other day was.

"So we decided that this project should be about celebrating what makes Britaing great and what makes Wimboldsley great.

“So each year group has been given a decade and they each have to focus on what made that decade great, whether it was the music or the fashion.”

The video features schoolchildren and teachers holding signs that emphasise the importance of equality in our culture.

Fiona said: “The signs were all written by the children themselves, and there were loads more that we could have used but the song is only a little bit over three minutes so we just could not fit them all in.”
