ST LEONARD's Church in Warmingham is already busy planning for the annual Wakes Fair.
This is to be held on Saturday, May 4 from 1.30pm on the church field, which is a new venue.
This year’s Wakes Queen has been chosen and is Charlotte Lloyd, 14, a past pupil of Warmingham Primary School and now at Sandbach Girls High School.
Charlotte will have a retinue of two attendants, three rosebuds, a bell ringer, a crown bearer and a page boy who are all local children.
There will be a procession through the village at 1.15pm, followed by the crowning of the Queen by the retiring Queen, Emily Metcalf.
The Wakes is to be opened by Dr Mike Olver.
There will be a variety of stalls and sideshow including refreshments.
Maypole dancing will be performed by pupils from Warmingham School. There will also be entertainment from a local band.
The event will culminate in the annual Warmingham Duck Race around 4pm when hundreds of yellow ducks race down the River Wheelock.
