A STOCKTON Heath resident who has been in the hospitality industry for almost 30 years is returning home to launch a fine dining experience.

Former Priestley College student Marc Smith is set to open Terrace Restaurant in London Road on Friday, May 10.

He is currently transforming the former Chiangmai Thai Tapas restaurant and has teamed up with executive head chef Phil Daley, who has held numerous head chef roles including many years at Panoramic in Liverpool.

Marc said: "We’ve exciting plans to transform the restaurant – a full makeover including new seating, granite tables and complete colour change as well as new fully fitted kitchen and bar area."

Described as 'fine dining with personality' made with fresh and seasonal produce sourced from regional suppliers and farmers' markets, Terrace will be open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea and, for the ultimate experience, chef's tasting menus.

Marc added: "Our offering will be fine dining and something completely different for the village. We call it fine dining ‘with personality’ – exquisite food yet uncomplicated menus. A welcoming, professional ambience yet friendly and warm service. Unobtrusive attention to detail."

Marc started at the Lord Daresbury Hotel in 1990 and has been in the hospitality industry since, holding manager positions with De Vere, Village, Q Hotels and more recently Macdonald Hotels.

He has known Phil for more than 10 years and they have previously worked together at Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa and Allerton Manor Golf Club.

The restaurant will also create around a dozen jobs.

Marc said: "We will be continually looking to enhance the skills of our teams. Any business is only as good as its people and this is key to our vision and core values."
