THE Sandhurst Hotel and Restaurant in Middlewich is set to be turned into accommodation for people with disabilities.
The large three-storey building in Chester Road operated as a hotel for 14 years before it was sold last year for £675,000.
The property was bought by Steve and Rowena Moore in 2004 and the couple acquired the adjoining premises to make the detached country house-style restaurant with letting rooms.
After a couple of attempts to sell the property, it was sold at the end of last year and now the new owner is looking to turn the building into a supported living facility for residents with various disabilities.
A planning application has been submitted to Cheshire East Council, seeking to create six en-suite bedrooms and six self-contained studios, as well as staff accommodation, a sensory room, assisted bathroom and a communal kitchen.
The application states: “The existing property, although aged, is attractive in appearance and retains much of its original character.
“The application proposes to alter the use of the property from a hotel to a supported living facility, providing accommodation for residents with a range of disabilities.
“Careful consideration has been taken over the internal layout, landscaping and parking arrangements to produce a proposal suitable for a specialist supported living facility.”
Residents have until April 22 to submit any comments they wish to be considered by the planning officers, and a decision is due to be made on the application by May 22.
