WILMSLOW firefighters have thanked the public for supporting yesterday's annual charity car wash, which raised £1,071 for the Fire Fighters Charity.

One of the town's firefighters said: "We would like to thank everyone who turned up and contributed to this fantastic charity - it means a lot and we couldn’t be more prouder of you all."

The car wash was rescheduled from the previous weekend because of bad weather, and ran from 10am to 3pm.

North west chairman of The Fire Fighters Charity and Chief Fire Officer Mark Cashin said: “The charity car wash is a great way to not only increase awareness of road safety but also to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity, which has provided assistance to serving and retired firefighters for more than 75 years.”
