A PLANNING application has been submitted to create ponds at a farm in Winsford to benefit great crested newts and other wildlife.
Dr John Higgs has applied to Cheshire West and Chester Council to make two small ponds up to two metres deep in a field at Park Farm, on Swanlow Lane.
The application, submitted in February, states the ponds would cover as space of around 10 metres by 15 metres and would include around two metres of surrounding marsh.
The proposed site already includes one pond and consists of improved grassland, surrounded by native hedgerows.
If granted approval, work will be carried out under a Natural England Project Licence and supervision of a licenced ecologist.
