RESIDENTS are being asked to make a big decision on the future of Middlewich today, March 14.

Middlewich is going to the polls for a referendum over whether or not the town should adopt its neighbourhood plan.

The town would follow in the footsteps of its neighbours in Winsford, Northwich, Sandbach, Holmes Chapel and Moston by approving the plan tonight.

But it has divided town councillors, and if Middlewich rejects the plan it would be just the third place in the country to do so.

The plan is designed to set out what type of development should take place across Middlewich.

If adopted, it will be given weight by Cheshire East Council when deciding planning applications.

Polls close at 10pm, and the Guardian will have the result tonight.

Do you know how you intend to vote? Do you even care? Have your say in our poll until 10pm.
