IT wasn’t just the pupils who brought stories to life at Middlewich High School this World Book Day, staff dressed up as their favourite literary characters too.

From modern favourites such as Professor Hagrid and Professor Trelawney in the Harry Potter series, to classical character’s such as Shakespeare’s star-crossed lover Juliet and Bram Stokers’ Dracula, staff at the King Edward Street School pulled out all the stops.

Librarian Elaine Atkin-Nash, who dressed a Tris Prior from Veronica Roth’s Divergent, said: “It was great fun. There staff are very good here at getting involved, they really make an effort.

“As well as dressing up, each year we decorate the classroom doors relating to a theme. This year’s theme was ‘A to Z’, so each class was given a letter and used a book starting with that letter to inspire their design.”

Middlewich Town Mayor and Mayoress Cllrs Bill and Bernice Walmsley attended to school to judge the competition and the winner will be announced next week.
