A WINSFORD musician has made a huge leap towards ‘breaking America’ today, with his band signing a record deal with a Los Angeles label.

Sworn Amongst, a metal five-piece formed in Hull and fronted by Winsfordian Darryl Jones since 2017, has signed a worldwide record contract with Famined Records – part of major US alternative label Victory Records.

A physical and digital release of the 'Reclamation' EP is set for April 12, with new single ‘Believe’ going live today with major distributor Impericon.

Darryl, who also plays with Cheshire-based This is Turin, said: “Sworn Against has quite a bit of history, in terms of the UK music scene.

“They have played all over Europe before, but now we have struck this deal with Famined based in LA.

“In terms of our exposure in the US, that definitely makes an impact. Victory Records being there makes a difference in terms of that audience.

“We have got an audience in the UK and Europe, but the US is always difficult for any band.”

The band is also on the roster for agency Artery Global, which means significant doors are now open across the pond including a potential run of tour dates.

But before that, Sworn Amongst set off on a UK and Europe tour which will include Hammerfest in Wales, gigs in Germany and the Czech Republic, and a show at Northwich’s own Salty Dog on Friday, March 22.

Darryl added: “Our last single in 2017 got noticed and from there it was just a case of putting the work in to show that we would be marketable and be able to make a return off the record.

“It’s taken a long time to get it finished and get the videos done, and we did some gigs over the past 12 months to keep our toes in the water in the UK.

“The UK scene as a whole has never been stronger. The quality of bands has improved significantly because the competition is there.

“It’s a lot easier for your music to be heard and easier to get a decent quality of recording, but that said the quality has increased. You can’t get away with it any more.”

Established in 2004, Sworn Amongst is made up of vocalist Darryl Jones, guitarists Ashley Currie and James Cooper, Kieran Agnew on bass and Jonny Harper on drums.
