A MAN has suffered "life changing" injuries after falling from scaffolding in Horwich.

The man, believed to be in his mid-30s was taken to Salford Royal Hospital on Wednesday evening.

It is believed he had fallen from scaffolding attached to the former United Reformed Church, in Lee Lane.

He suffered numerous serious injuries to his leg and hip, although the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called at around5.20pm to reports that a man had fallen from the scaffolding on a church on Lee Lane.

"The man, who is believed to be in his 30s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The injuries are believed to be life changing but not life threatening."

As well as police, land and air ambulances attended, although the air ambulance left the scene without taking the patient on board.

The road was blocked while emergency services attended to the man and a number of buses were diverted.
