PLANNING consent has been granted for the conversion of Norley Scout Hut into a three-bedroom house.

First lodged in 2014, the plans would allow for the sale of the site, which Scout leaders say is much needed to fund the group's move to an extended village hall.

A planning application said the hut was in 'disrepair', and that a new home would add to a mix of housing, based on demographic trends and the community's needs.

A planning statement said: "The existing Scout Hut for the 1st Norley Scouts is in disrepair.

"The Scout require an improved space and it is proposed for an extension of the Norley Village Hall to accommodate the 1st Norley Scouts with their own meeting area, large store, kitchen and WCs.

"The sale of the Scout Hut with outline planning permission on Crabmill Lane is essential in the funding of the proposlas for the village hall extension.

"The Scouts will benefit from the improved relocation to the village hall on the high street, with better access, increased recreational space, improved facilities and additional parking."

Planning permission was granted earlier in February by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Parallel plans for the village hall extension, also submitted in 2014, were approved by CWAC in October 2018.
