A TOTAL of 19 affordable homes will be built at the site of a former Prestwich pub despite neighbours' concerns about privacy.
The development will see seven two-storey houses – six three-bed semi-detached and one four-bed detached – constructed on the cleared land formerly occupied by the Park Hotel, at the junction of Lowther Road and Gale Road.
It also includes a rectangular four-storey block of 12 two-bedroom apartments with an adjoining forecourt.
Scott Chenery from OMI Architects said everyone in the area is keen for the site to brought back into use.
However, Talat Ali of Carr Avenue told the planning committee that he and other residents were worried about privacy issues relating to occupants of the block being able to see through his front window.
He said: “The residents’ quality of life will be impacted in a big way if planning permission is granted for Irwell Valley to proceed.”
Cllr Eamonn O'Brien welcomed the plans but said reassurances about visual amenity and the impact on the residence would be helpful.
Plans were approved at Tuesday's meeting.
