A COMMUNITY festival is being held in Winsford.

Winsford Festivals is hosting an event called New Beginnings to give volunteer organisations a platform to help them to grow and flourish.

Clubs, groups and organisations are invited to showcase what they have to offer and recruit new members at a two day community event.

The exhibition takes place from 10am to 6pm on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14.

Winsford Town Council unanimously approved a request to hold the event on Verdin Fields at a meeting last night.

Winsford mum-of-four Jay McGough, vice chairman of Winsford Festivals, said: "We are really enthusiastic about this. We are proud of where we are from and want to put pride back into the town.

"With New Beginnings we want to show the community all the clubs and groups that are on offer.

"We want to show people what talent we have in the town."

Various activities will be held at the event and stalls will be selling items.

Group chairman Winsford mum Emma Brown wants to encourage as many groups and businesses as possible to take part.

Various scouting and guiding units have already signed up along with Cheshire Police and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Emma said: "We are still looking for groups or people to take part. We also have a small number of stalls left."

Anyone interested in taking part can email winsfordfestivals@gmail.com.
