CHILDREN are learning how to play a new musical instrument.
Pupils at Hebden Green Community School in Winsford are mastering the skills of the ukulele.
The school on Woodford Lane originally received a 12 week taster session led by a tutor from Edsential.
The course was so successful teachers applied for funding from the Darnhall Exhibition Foundation, who gave money to pay for a further 12 weeks.
Music and creative arts teacher Vicky Ormerod-Jordan said: "We have nine pupils who have a one hour ukelele lesson each Monday afternoon with their Edsential ukelele tutor Matthew Gray.
"The nine pupils aged 12 to 15 are from three different classes.
"We hope that we can secure further funding to enable the lessons to continue into the next academic year.
"The children will be sharing their achievements to an invited audience including parents at the end of March."
