VOLUNTEERS are helping to spruce up Winsford Town Park.

Friends of Winsford Town Park will be working with professional garden designer Jo Fawcett, the horticulturalist who designed the park's planting scheme.

An activity session is being held tomorrow, Wednesday, from 10.30am to 1pm.

Anyone is welcome to join in and stay for as long as they like.

John Malam, chairman of Friends of Winsford Town Park, said: “At some point in the morning a video team will be with us recording a piece for a forthcoming Cheshire West and Chester Council report.

"There will also be a photographer taking pictures, highlighting the provision of tools and hi-vis vests for the friends by the council."

No experience is necessary.Helpers are reminded to wear suitable outdoor clothing, gardening gloves and appropriate footwear.

Volunteers are asked to park in town and walk across to the park to meet at the viewing platform beside Dingle Lane.

Afterwards, the group walks over to the Novel Bite cafe upstairs in the library which offers refreshments, snacks and light lunches.

The cafe is run by students from Warrington & Vale Royal College who are gaining work experience and life skills.

Further activity sessions are scheduled for February 27, March 13 and 27, April 10 and 24, May 8 and 22, June 5 and 19, July 17 and 31, August 14 and 28, September 11 and 25, October 9 and 23 and November 6 and 20.

The team is hoping to arrange some sessions on Saturdays and Sundays for people who are unable to make it on Wednesdays.
