MIDDLEWICH Labour has confirmed that it has renewed its sponsorship of the Middlewich Rose Fete and Children’s Festival.

This is the second year that Middlewich Labour has supported the Rose Fete.

The sponsorship cheque was handed over to current Rose Queen Amelia, by neighbouring MP Mike Amesbury when he visited the town on Labour’s campaign day on the Saturday, January 26.

Mike Hunter, Labour Town Councillor said: “We are delighted to support the wonderful and historic Middlewich tradition of the Rose Fete. We know it’s not easy putting on these events.

“It’s very popular and is part of what makes our town special.

“Every penny counts, so we had no hesitation in asking members to contribute, and they’ve once again been very generous.”

Karen Fewtrell from Middlewich Rose Fete said: “This is fantastic news. As a not-for-profit group, we rely on the generosity of local groups and businesses to support us.

“Without local support we simply couldn’t afford to hold the children’s festival. We would love to use the money to help us bring in some entertainment for the children.”

This year the festival will be held on Market Field on Saturday, May 18.
