A CREATIVE art exhibition is being held as part of Winsford Women's Day.

Community groups, individuals, uniformed organisations and schools are invited to create art work that depicts inspirational women, a female icon or women supporting women.

International Women's Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

This year's Winsford event is being held on Saturday, March 9 at Warrington and Vale Royal College from 10am to 4pm.

The theme is creating equality for all in the workplace.

Organiser Kate Blakemore, chief executive of Motherwell Cheshire, said: "Lots of local organisations will be doing demonstrations.

"Cheshire police and fire will be joining the event to promote women in the blue light services.

"Skill supply will be joining us with their drones where children can learn to programme and fly drones."

Winsford Diamonds Girls football team and Baby Ballet Winsford will be staging demonstrations and BDC Bethz dance will present a women's dance workshop.

Guest speakers include Gwen Carr researcher of the n ational programme lead for the NHS antenatal and newborn screening programme, Kai Uus, head of Audiology at Manchester University and Kate Cousens, author of Climbing the Ladder in Heels.

Cheshire police and fire will be joining the event to promote women in the blue light services.

Art work can be dropped off at the Motherwell offices in Verdin Exchange by Friday, March 1. All entries received will go on display.
