PLANNING permission has been granted by Cheshire East Council for a new three-storey 66 bed care home in Booth Lane, Moston.

The site was formerly used by Albion Works but since this was demolished the land has been prepared for residential development.

A planning statement said: “The three-storey building would front onto Booth Lane and have an appropriate presence within the street scene.

“The redevelopment of the site will contribute to maintaining a socially inclusive community, whilst also providing significant numbers of jobs/employment.

“It is considered that the proposal would significantly improve the built and natural environment in this location by providing a community building that makes best use of the site having regard for the principles of good urban design.”

The plans include a new access road which will be created from Booth Lane into the site to the north west of the application site.

The applicant believes that the development would provide a much-needed service in the area.

A planning statement said: “The development of this site for a new purpose-built care home will have a positive impact upon the area by developing the site for a use that would be beneficial and fulfil a need, whilst providing a development sympathetic in terms of its scale and design.

The aim for the proposal is to provide two types of care, general residential and residential dementia.

Pedestrian access to the site will be created from the Booth Lane bus stop.
