A DRAMATIC, interactive and immersive performance that explores the relationship between the younger generation and the digital world is coming to Winsford.

Tuckshop Dance Theatre in conjunction with Cheshire Dance is staging Neverland at Winsford Library at 5.30pm on February 7.

The show shares the multiple perspectives of young people living online and celebrates their positive relationship with digital technology.

An uplifting performance that uses dance, augmented reality and technology to explore the minds and imaginations of the younger generation, Neverland considers how social media has the potential to blur the lines between truth and reality.

Raising awareness of the challenges that our youngsters face today and highlighting the tensions between realism and virtual existence, Neverland supports young people to thrive in this challenging digital era and to continue to remain aware of the risks that the online world can bring.

Aimed at ages 11 and over, this highly anticipated show has been produced using the ideology behind the story of Peter Pan which has been updated for this older age group.

Transporting audiences to a parallel universe on a journey to reach adulthood, viewers are immersed in a digital world in which social media dominates lives and solid relationships are paramount for individual happiness.

Dance development artist and choreographer Lauren Tucker said: “Tuckshop Dance Theatre and Cheshire Dance have worked together to uncover what life is really like for the younger generation in this digital era.

"We have collaborated to explore youth culture and digital identity, and have strived to encourage this age group to reflect on how they interact digitally and develop relationships.

"The culmination of this research is Neverland – a performance that amplifies youth voice and encourages endless creativity and the positive use of digital technology.”

Cheshire Dance said: “Neverland showcases a world of possibility; it inspires young people to make positive choices and to develop meaningful relationships both on and offline.

"Touching on issues such as sexting, online grooming, cyber bullying and relationship building, etc. – and how to overcome the challenges that surround these matters – the result of Neverland is an emotional and moving representation of the younger generation of today.”

In addition to Cheshire Dance, Neverland is also supported by Arts Council England through a National Lottery Project Grant, Cheshire West & Chester Libraries and Wired Aerial Theatre. Project partners involved in the performance include: Storyhouse Chester, Liverpool John Moores University, Creative Youth Development Wirral and Action Transport Theatre.
