A GAME show and quiz night is being held to help build schools for children in Nepal.

Cheshire firefighter and community safety apprentices are hosting the event to raise funds for Classroom in the Clouds, a charity which helps to transform the lives of young people.

The quiz, known as Test the Team, is being run by Barclays and takes place on Wednesday, January 23 at Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service on Sadler Road in Winsford.

Twelve firefighters and community safety apprentices will be flying to Nepal in March to work with the charity to help build a much needed school and need to raise £30,000 to complete the project.

Firefighter and community safety apprentices Olivia Lovatt and Ellie Ditchfield are coordinating the fundraising event.

Ellie said: “It’s going to be a great evening and lots of fun. Barclays are very kindly helping with the quiz and will also do a couple of game show rounds that I’m sure will go down well with the teams.”

All the money raised from the quiz will go towards the building of an Early Years Centre in Bung, a remote Nepalese village.

This facility will provide strong foundations for learning, enabling the youngest children in the village access to an education.

Following the Nepalese earthquakes in 2015 which killed more than 8,000 people, injured more than 21,000 people and left hundreds of thousands of people homeless, the need for this help is even more important and will give children for generations to come the opportunity of an education.

Teams of up to five can put their skills to the test in general knowledge questions and game show rounds.

Admission is £10 per person which includes hot food and a welcome drink.

Doors open at 6pm and the event starts at 6.45pm.
