FIREFIGHTERS were called to a building on fire close to the M6 motorway.
The alarm was raised around 1pm yesterday, Saturday, due to the amount of thick black smoke after the Middlewich junction.
A Cheshire Fire spokesman said: “On arrival it transpired to be a large bonfire on Brereton Lane involving wood and a wooden trailer.
“Given the amount of black smoke and its proximity to the motorway, crews helped the farmer to manage the bonfire better by removing the trailer and spreading out the remaining remnants.
“They used breathing apparatus and a hose reel and were at the scene for around an hour and a half.”
