MIDDLEWICH Town Football Club has been broken into for the third time in six months.

CCTV footage has been released which shows the thief breaking into the fruit machines at 4.34am on New Year’s Eve.

Steve Morris, 66, chairman of Middlewich Town Football Club, said: “The thief broke into the fruit machines but because they are emptied regularly, he will not have come away with more than £25.”

“We will get the person, every dog has its day.

“The police have been informed and forensics have already been to have a look.

After the previous break in at the club on Wednesday, September 26 the burglar got away with £10 to £15 but caused £100s worth of damage to the front door.

This time a window was smashed to get into the building.

Sandra Morris, 55, social club treasurer, said: “It is so annoying for the whole club that we have to keep covering these bills for repairs after each break in.

“The club is for everyone and at the end of the day it is the children that use it who are suffering because of this.

“Someone must know who this person is and unless the police have proof of who has done it, nothing will happen.”

The thief can be seen with anti-vandalism paint on their trousers after breaking into the machine.

Volunteers at the club will have to cover the cost of the break in

Sandra said: “The last time this happened we put shutters up on the door and it is expensive for us no matter what we do.

“We do not make a profit and apart from the bar staff at the club, everyone is here as a volunteer and we are trying to keep this place open for the children who use it.”

Anyone with any information on the break in should contact the police on 101.
