POLICE have now charged a woman from Winsford after a taxi driver was reported to have been robbed at knifepoint.
It is alleged that two passengers in a taxi demanded the driver hand over his wallet, phone and car keys, shortly after 2am yesterday, Thursday.
One of the passengers is said to have assaulted the driver with a knife causing minor injuries.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “The victim, a 36-year-old man, handed over his possessions and the two passengers, a man and a woman, ran away.
“Officers swiftly arrived at the scene and following a thorough search of the area a 41-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, both of Winsford, were arrested on suspicion of robbery.”
Police have today charged the 41-year-old with robbery and she is due to appear in Magistrates Court today.
The 25-year-old man has been released under investigation.
