THE plans for a new Middlewich marina will be decided in three weeks-time.
The plans, submitted by Intertechnic, include a 12-berth marina, 137 homes, plus shops and cafes on its site, in the Brooks Lane industrial estate.
The proposed multi-use development has endured a turbulent planning process after initially being thrown out by Cheshire East Council in 2017 due to being premature.
Chave Planning, a company who help companies and people navigate through planning policy, have stated that the plans should now be approved.
A planning statement said: “We consider that the amended plans and information provide a proposal which complies with the development plan and therefore the application should be approved without delay.
“We would therefore request that, following a period of re-consultation, the application is reported to the planning committee for determination.”
The Intertechnic planning statement said: “It is considered that the application proposals respond positively to each of the site-specific development principles in the local plan.
“The site’s canalside location makes it a clear opportunity for housing-led mixed-use development and a marina.”
After further consultation, the committee date for a decision has been pushed to Thursday, December 19 during a strategic planning board meeting.
