A YOUTH disco run by parents has been hailed a huge success.

Paul Dimelow and Wayne Farinha, from Winsford, teamed up to launch a new event for youngsters aged 11 to 17 at Dingle Recreation Centre in August.

The monthly dance evening has proved so popular, they hope to continue in the new year.

Paul said: "It is run by volunteers who are all parents. Youngsters said there was nothing to do so we wanted to organise something that would be safe.

"It started off with around 25 and has grown every time.

"We choose a different theme each month. We've had halloween, UV and neon parties and we give out free presents to go with the theme such as free glow sticks."

Wayne said: "We are not making any money from it, the money made goes into the next events. We have also bought Christmas decorations for the Dingle centre and we are putting them up and decorating the centre for the people who use it."

The next event will be a Christmas disco from 7pm to 9.30pm on Saturday, December 15.

"We charge £5 admission and that includes free cordials all night," added Paul. "The children have been really well behaved. It is very safe. We don't let any of them leave until they are picked up by their parents."
