THE majority of people quizzed in a street poll in Winsford want to have a say on the Brexit deal, claim campaigners.

A random survey outside Winsford Cross shopping centre found that most residents were now in favour of a people's vote.

Campaigners from the newly-formed cross party People's Vote for Eddisbury group spent more than three hours on Saturday seeking views over Theresa May's proposed Brexit deal.

A spokesman for the group said: "The response was enthusiastic. People were very keen to engage with us.

"A lot of people felt very angry and said they were sick of being lied to. They said they had not been told the whole story and weren't given enough information to make a proper choice in 2016."

In the group's 'Brexometer', people were asked how they had voted in the referendum, what they thought about the Prime Minister's current negotiations and if they wanted a people's vote.

"It was by no means scientific but we spoke to men and women of all ages across the board," said the spokesman. "They had voted around 50:50 in the referendum.

"Most now want a people's vote, there's a very strong feeling on the ground. Others want more information and some were sticking to their original position.

"We just wanted to get a dialogue going. We've done stalls in various places but this time, in Winsford, people came to us and wanted to have a say."
