THE junctions around Gadbrook Park will be altered from Monday to Friday next week, as work on the proposed junction improvement works continue.

From Monday, November 19 to Friday, November 23, site investigation works and surveys will take place at the A556 Gadbrook Park junction.

The £2 million project, announced in October 2017, will see a new slip road created on the westbound carriageway to improve access to the business park for those travelling from Knutsford, Manchester and the M6.

Junction approaches will also be widened, and Cheshire West and Chester Council claims that the project will help cut delays by 14 per cent.

As a result, signs have gone up to inform motorists of upcoming survey works.

From Monday to Friday, there will be a closure of the right turn lane into Gadbrook Park, meaning eastbound traffic will be diverted towards King Street roundabout for Gadbrook Park.

Meanwhile, eastbound traffic will have ‘free flow’ access into Gadbrook Park, and vehicles will be able to turn right from Gadbrook Road to Rudheath towards Chester.

There will be no ‘straight-on’ access from Rudheath to Gadbrook Park, with traffic again diverted towards the King Street roundabout instead.

Traffic signal timings at the junction will be monitored by engineers throughout the week.

CWAC cabinet member for environment, Cllr Karen Shore, said: “The traffic management will be set up on Monday, November 19 and Highways officers will be on site at a number of locations to monitor traffic movements and the traffic signals timings during these temporary works.

“Signs have been erected on site to let motorists know the works will begin from Tuesday, November 20.

“Earlier this week a contractor started work in this area earlier than scheduled.  We corrected this error and when work begins again signed diversions will be in place at the Gadbrook Park traffic lights.

”We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause and thank drivers for their patience and support while these essential investigations take place.”

An additional 1,060 jobs are expected at Gadbrook Park by 2020, on top of the current 5,000 people employed.
