GROUPS and charities in Middlewich have been invited to take part in two new community schemes by Jack’s.

The Jack’s team is keen the new store supports the community and store manager Matt Eggerton wants to invite customers to take part in Jack’s two programmes.

Jack’s Supports will donate the proceeds of the sale of carrier bags in the Middlewich store to a local community group every three months, chosen by Jack’s customers.

The winning group is guaranteed a minimum of £500 and each participating group also receives £250 at the beginning of the vote to celebrate their nomination to the scheme.

Voting is currently taking place between 2nd Middlewich Scout Group, Middlewich Town Under 8’s Football Team, Middlewich Community Centre and Middlewich Heritage Trust.

The Second Middlewich Scout Group provide their young members with outdoor experiences, adventure opportunities and life skills.

Middlewich Town Under eights Football Club also work with young members, encouraging girls and boys from the area to participate in and enjoy football.

Middlewich Community Centre provides a space for small local organisations to meet.

Middlewich Heritage Trust works with other local organisations and local schools to preserve and promote the town’s architectural, Roman and salt heritage.

As well as supporting these local charities with a funding boost, Jack’s is also helping to stop good food going to waste by running the Community Food Connection scheme.

Working with UK food redistribution charity FareShare, colleagues ensure any unsold food safe for human consumption is offered to local charities and community groups.

Jack’s are looking for more groups to sign up to receive the food.

Matt Eggerton, Jack’s store manager, said: “Our Community Food Connection is looking for more groups to benefit from surplus food donations so please get in touch with me at the store if we can support you.

“Jack’s Supports is also looking for applications for the next voting period, so please do find out more online or by asking a Jack’s colleague.”

Applications for the next round can be made online at jacks-uk.com/jacks-supports.
