A CHESHIRE Police officer has been found guilty of raping a 13-year-old girl and grooming countless other young victims.

Ian Naude drove the girl to a secluded spot before raping her – filming the incident on his mobile phone before taking a selfie of himself smirking after the attack.

Today, Thursday, the 30-year-old was found guilty of seven counts of sexual offences against a child – including rape.

Naude, of Market Drayton in Shropshire, had earlier admitted a further 31 offences – including sexual communications with a child, enticing a child to engage in sexual activity and possession of indecent images.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that Naude was serving with Cheshire Police when a woman called officers to her home.

He and another officer attended, with the defendant taking contact details for her 13-year-old daughter at this time.

Over the next three days, he groomed her via social media and invited her to go for a drive in his car.

Naude then raped the girl, videoing his attack and then taking a selfie.

When the girl told her family what had happened, an investigation was launched and found that he was a ‘committed, predatory paedophile’.

He repeatedly contacted vulnerable underage girls via the internet, posing as a 15-year-old boy.

Naude would then persuade his victims to undress and perform sexual acts on camera, also sending explicit pictures and videos of himself to these girls.

Martin McRobb, senior crown prosecutor at the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “Ian Naude claimed his victim had consented to sex, but the disturbing video of the incident on his phone did not show the face of a consenting woman – it showed the face of a sad, scared and abused 13 year old girl.

“She had been groomed by a police officer who had a history of manipulating, pressurising and blackmailing young girls into performing sexual acts for his perverted pleasure.

“Ian Naude thought he could get away with it, but thankfully his victim found the courage to tell her family what had happened.

“The investigation that followed revealed Naude to be a persistent paedophile who had been targeting young girls on the internet for a long time.

“He had joined the police to gain greater access to vulnerable young girls he could exploit.”

“Naude calculated that his victims would be too embarrassed, ashamed or confused to report him.

“When the extent of his offending came to light, he admitted some of the sexual offences but maintained that he never tried to meet the girls he talked to online and insisted that the 13-year-old he had sex with in his car had consented.

“The CPS dismissed these assertions as deliberate lies and the jury have agreed.”

Naude will be sentenced for his sickening catalogue of abuse on Thursday, December 13.

Mr McRobb added: “There were no limits to Ian Naude’s depravity – the Crown Prosecution Service would like to thank all the victims and their families in this case for their help in bringing him to justice.

“In particular, I would like to pay tribute to the 13 year old girl who was raped and sexually abused by Ian Naude while he was a serving police officer.

“Without her courage and assistance, an investigation of Ian Naude may never have begun.

“He might still be a serving police officer – in which case, he would undoubtedly still be offending against young girls.

“This particular young girl has saved many others from suffering the same fate and the trauma of sexual abuse – she deserves our appreciation and respect.

“Thanks to the courage of his victims and their families, the work of the investigating officers and the Crown Prosecution Service, he now faces a long prison term where he can no longer pose a risk to young girls.

“The CPS would also like to thank the jury for their work in what has been a very disturbing case.”
