CHILDREN paid tribute to war heroes at a special memorial.

Pupils at Hebden Green School in Winsford marked the centenary of the end of the First World War with a morning of remembrance.

Teachers prepared a display of books, documents, pictures and war memorabilia.

Town mayor Cllr Gina Lewis and veterans spoke to the children about the historic milestone.

Giant poppies were then placed in the school's memorial garden and on trees as pupils paid their respects to all the servicemen and women killed in the conflict.
