A MAN is in intensive care in hospital after an incident in the swimming pool at Winsford Lifestyle Centre.
The man was pulled from the main swimming pool by lifeguards on Thursday last week, Brio has confirmed.
The lifeguards on hand at the Lifestyle Centre administered CPR while awaiting paramedics to arrive and have been thanked by the man's family.
North West Ambulance Service described the man as being in a 'critical condition' when they arrived at the scene, before taking him to Leighton Hospital.
A spokesman for Brio Leisure said: "There was an incident on Thursday afternoon at Winsford Lifestyle Centre where a gentleman was pulled from the main swimming pool and CPR was performed until the emergency services arrived to take the gentleman to hospital.
"The gentleman remains in intensive care pending surgery, and his family have conveyed their thanks to the team at Winsford Lifestyle Centre for their swift response.
"The emergency services outlined that the prompt rescue on site had contributed to the recovery outcome to date. Our thoughts are with the gentleman and his family."
