MIDDLEWICH Town followed an impressive victory on their travels the previous week with another when they beat FC St Helens.

Scott Twite, with a header, and a free-kick from Harry Short established control for the Witches in a Cheshire League Premier Division encounter on Saturday.

Captain Jamie Petrie added gloss with a third goal following a counter-attack with time running out, sending his side to the top of the table.

Lostock Gralam completed a double over Moore United to record an eighth win from their past nine League One matches.

James Dean converted a penalty to set the Grey Lambs on a course for victory before Alex Wilson made it 2-0.

Dean then doubled his personal tally after the interval, this time with a fine header, before Josh Baker added his name to a list of goal-scorers at Park Stadium.

Winnington Avenue 1994 demonstrated their powers of recovery during a 6-4 win at Club AZ in League Two.

After trailing 3-2 at the break, the Northwich side rallied in thrilling fashion to record a second victory of the campaign.

Sam Didsbury scored twice while Craig Humphries, Steve Rowlands, Mike Chubb and Steven Hamill were on target too for the visitors.

Matthew Cann was on target for 10-man Middlewich Town's reserves when their eight-match winning run in all competitions ended after a 3-1 defeat at home to Vulcan, who avenged a loss in the reverse fixture.

Barnton Wanderers, the defending champions, put six goals past neighbours Clock Tower on their return to action in the Crewe and District League’s Premier Division.

Rob Campbell’s hat-trick was the highlight of a 6-1 win.

Ste Hughes netted four times for Winsford Saxons, while Alex Townhill claimed a treble, as they ran up double-figures in a 12-1 thrashing of Winnington Avenue.

Meanwhile Over 3 Grange became the latest side to secure a spot in the AJ Cooke Trophy semi-finals after goals from Zak Finnigan and Brandon Icely contributed to a 2-1 win at Mary Dendy.
