AN application has been accepted for two new shelters for clay pigeon shooting in Sproston,

Primrose Farm, in Broad Lane has been used for clay pigeon shooting for at least five decades.

The planning statement said: “The site is within the Green Belt but use for outdoor sport and the construction of related buildings is considered to represent appropriate and sustainable development.

“It provides opportunities for sport and recreation which might otherwise be unavailable.”

The new shelters would be a minimum of 200m away from the M6 and neither the target or the shot would reach half that distance.

The site is already managed under the provision of Firearms Regulation Control.

During the time that the site has been in use there have been no noise complaints submitted to either Cheshire West and Chester Council or Cheshire East Council.
