A VISITOR to the Anderton Boat Lift earlier this month turned heads with its stunning early 20th-century looks.

The Daniel Adamson steamship – known as The Danny – moored at the Victorian boat lift over a weekend and drew in many visitors for guided tours.

Dating back to 1903, the Danny was used commercially for many years, and has now been lovingly restored.

One visitor, Joe Sutton, praised the volunteers’ efforts on the day and throughout the process.

Mr Sutton said: “The Danny has now been restored to its beautiful condition by dedicated volunteers, who have put many hours into the restoration of the beautiful ship.

“We were shown around by some of the volunteers who spoke lovingly and proudly of their achievements and gave us a detailed history. These volunteers should be commended for the time they have given.

“Future cruises on the Danny would be a wonderful asset to our town.”
