WITTON Albion cruised to a second away success of the season with the minimum of fuss, brushing aside North Ferriby.

It extends an unbeaten run in all competitions to four matches, and sends them into a testing week with confidence high.

They ought to have taken the lead inside five minutes but James Foley skied his shot into allotments behind the goal at the end of a slick four-man move.

The midfielder’s next contribution saw his free-kick from outside the area blocked before alert goalkeeper Lewis Exall pushed over when Josh Wardle fired the redirected ball towards goal with power.

Albion took the lead on 16 minutes when Foley converted coolly from the penalty spot after Ben Leyland had fouled Matty Devine, and they doubled it shortly afterwards.

Danny McKenna and Will Jones combined to tee up Billy Smart, the former Marine midfielder claiming a first goal for his new club with a curling shot.

A third followed before the break and McKenna was again involved, laying off to Smart who in turn picked out Rob Hopley.

Witton’s captain cushioned a header into Foley’s path and he blasted past Exall.

North Ferriby’s number one kept out Smart’s drive too ahead of the interval while at the other end Albion smuggled clear James Piercy’s header.

Manager Carl Macauley, already unable to count on Tom Owens, will be worried to have lost Cesaire to an injury that prevented him from playing the second-half.

It didn’t change the pattern of this contest, and Smart’s glancing header made it 4-0 after he met McKenna’s cross with the faintest of touches.

Substitute Delial Brewster, on for Hopley, steered wide of the target after Exall had narrowed his shooting angle before Jones’ header from Foley’s free-kick was ruled out for offside.
