A CHARITY supporting young people has launched pupil coaching programmes working in partnership with Winsford Academy.

Supporting youngsters in the latter stages of school, the unique development and coaching programme from the charity Grit – formerly Youth at Risk - aims to light the spark of aspiration, helping pupils to achieve their full potential at school and beyond.

Crucial to the success of the programme is the role that adults in the Winsford community will play in supporting young people.

Adults from the community will be trained to coach young people for six months, supporting pupils as they work towards goals and help them stay on track as they make positive changes.

Sabrina Chambers, who volunteered with Grit, said: “Volunteering was an excellent experience which not only contributed to my personal development and hopefully that of my young person, but satisfied my social conscience.”

Recruitment has now begun for Winsford volunteers needed to coach and support young people throughout the programme at Winsford Academy. No previous experience is needed, just a passion for making a difference with young people in your community and time available to coach.

A spokesman for Grit said: “This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the lives of local young people, give back to the community and be part of the solution.”

All volunteers will be trained in Grit’s high-impact, life coaching methodology which many continue to make use of way beyond their involvement in the programme.
