MISCHIEVOUS animals from Madagascar made their way to Winsford for an interesting session with zoo rangers.

Bella Bashforth, a Chester Zoo ranger, visited the High Street library for a story time session with children during the summer holidays.

Throughout the six-week break from school, libraries from across Cheshire West and Chester are putting on a variety of fun activities for their Summer Reading Challenge centred around the Beano series.

Cllr Louise Gittins, cabinet member for communities and wellbeing, said: "Parents and carers love the challenge too, not only is it free but they can see the difference the Summer Reading Challenge makes to their children.

"Reading can 'dip' during the long summer holidays and children who take part in the Summer Reading Challenge return to school in September as more fluent, confident, happy readers.

These events – happening again on August 14 and August 30 – are set to be very popular and booking with the library in advance is advised.

There are plenty of other activities to keep children of all ages occupied over the summer break and continue to engage them with reading.
