HUNDREDS of residents went along to Winsford Fire Station when it opened its doors to the public for an event that promises something for everyone.

A range of activities offered fun for all the family at the fire station from 11am to 3pm on Saturday, July 21.

Operational and firefighter demonstrations took place throughout the day.

Paul Watts, Winsford Fire Station manager, said: "This was a great way for the community to discover more about their local fire station and learn about some of the work we undertake.

"There was an opportunity to meet some of the hard working on-call firefighters, who provide around the clock cover to help keep the community safe.”

A range of vintage and modern fire engines on display, a smoke tent, a climbing wall and a variety of community stands were in place when more than 500 people came to the station in Sadler Road.

The Fire Fighters Charity, St Luke’s Hospice, Blood Bikes and North West Ambulance Service were at the event.
