A MAN has been charged in relation to a burglary in Middlewich on Monday.

The burglary took place shortly after 1pm on July 16, at a house in St Ann's Road.

A 26-year-old man from the Manchester area was later arrested and has now been charged.

He is charged with burglary at addresses in Middlewich and Sandbach, and attempted burglary at another property in Sandbach. All offences occurred on Monday.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "Officers swiftly attended the scene and searched the area. A short time later Cheshire Police’s Taskforce team became aware of a suspicious vehicle travelling on the A556 near to the Bowden Interchange.

"They followed the car at a safe distance as it drove towards Manchester, first onto the M56, then Princess Street, and then onto Whitchurch Road, where they attempted to stop it.

"The car failed to stop and travelled to Hart Road where both occupants ran off.

"A short time later officers located and arrested a 26-year-old man.

"The man is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries. A second man remains outstanding."

The 26-year-old was also charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and possession of a knife.

He has been remanded in police custody and is set to appear at Crewe Magistrates’ Court later today, Wednesday.
