WINSFORD residents will be pleased to hear that the town will receive part of £350,000 in funding to create a dementia-friendly town.

Cheshire and Warrington Carers Trust will team up with The Alzheimer’s Society and Age UK Cheshire to create a range of new activities and services catered for those living with dementia in Winsford, as well as their carers, using part of a £350,000 allocation of funding.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “The three organisations will work in partnership with people with dementia and their carers to identify barriers that cause them to become socially excluded. We also look to deliver a wide range of services that will support communities across Cheshire West and Chester.”

This funding will also offer up support and dementia-inclusive training for existing services and businesses in the Winsford area.

Other areas that will benefit from the funding include Blacon, Lache, Handbridge, Upton, Hoolem and Boughton
