LUCKY parents were treated to a sneak peek at the new town park ahead of its official opening at an event held by Winsford Library.

As part of Bookstart Week, running from June 4 until June 10, Cheshire West Libraries held several fun events oriented towards getting families to read more.

On Thursday, June 7, toddlers took a stroll from Winsford Library after meeting the Bookstart Bear to the town park following its £900,000 transformation.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has been working with Winsford Town Council, which owns the park, on the major renovation project since last autumn and Mark Bailey, clerk at Winsford Town Council, confirmed that the newly refurbished park is expected to open at 3.30pm on June 27 – subject to work outside the town council’s control being completed.

Cllr Stephen Burns, Labour CWAC member for Winsford Swanlow and Dene, added: “We are really proud of Winsford Town Park. It is going to be an amazing space for Winsford residents. I cannot wait to see it once it is all done.”

A multi-use games area, new children’s play areas, improved park furniture and the introduction of wildlife habitats are all set to feature in the new-look park.
