A GROUP of Cheshire dogwalkers are celebrating the rapid growth of their community.

The Dog Walks in Cheshire group are highly-active on Facebook, posting new routes for members to use every day.

Group founder Roger Westwood, from Winsford, said: “I organised the first group walk up Old Pale in September 2017 and, since then, we reached just over 1000 members after Christmas.”

The dog-walking community, originally named ‘Dog Walks in Winsford’ until members from further afield joined, are now home to more than 2000 members who regularly meet for walks.

Francesca Tysver assists Roger with the day-to-day running of the page and organising group walks, due to its popularity with residents.

A walk to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice was organised by member Lloyd Smith last month, which raised more than £500 with help from the Barclay's pound for pound scheme.

Members are encouraged to contribute to the routes on offer and can join the group by going to facebook.com/groups/cheshiredogwalks
