A MAN suffered a broken cheekbone after he and his friend were attacked by a gang near Crewe town centre in the early hours of Monday.

At approximately 1.30am on Monday, January 29, the victims, two local men both aged 24, were walking along Edleston Road, in the direction of Crewe town centre, when they were approached by a group of approximately 20 men and women near to junction of High Street.

A fight broke out between the group, during which both of the victims were attacked and knocked unconscious.

The victims both required hospital treatment as a result of the attack, with one man sustaining a broken cheekbone.

Officers are now appealing for information from the public after two men were seriously assaulted in Crewe town centre.

Det Const Tom Vass said: “The victims in this case have both been left extremely shaken as a result of their ordeal and we are committed to doing all we can to trace the people responsible.

“The investigation is currently in its early stages and we are following a number of lines of enquiry, including speaking to local residents and CCTV analysis.

“As part of this I’m keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who believed that they may know the identity of the people involved.

“I’d also like to hear from anyone who was driving in the Edleston Road/High Street area of Crewe between 1am and 2am and has a dashcam fitted to their vehicle.”
